Organizations continually expand, contract, and change styles of operation. These changes frequently require new facility construction, renovation of existing facilities and addition, removal and rearranging of equipment, appliances and furniture. Facility Manager is designed to assist user in evaluating, planning and implementing these changes.

Create Layout Drawings
Facility Manager provides a core set of drafting capabilities that enable the user to create preliminary and final layout drawings. The system supports "intelligent" walls, meaning the wall will automatically relimit to accommodate an object placed inside it and will heal itself when the object is removed. Multiple line representations of interior and exterior walls automatically blend when forming a corner or "T". Walls of any thickness and type can be created and easily added to the layout drawing. These walls can also be filled with customizable patterns to represent material (concrete, brick, wood) or insulation.

Investigate Layout Alternatives
This Facility module allows users to more timely and accurately forecast space and equipment needs, improve space utilization, manage assets better, and reduce time and cost associated with remodeling. This is accomplished by making it easy for users to explore numerous layout alternatives. "What if?" types of analysis and impact studies can be quickly performed. The package further calculates the area and perimeter of a room and reports on its contents.

Placing Fixed Assets
Equipment and furniture can be retrieved from a parametric library or electronic libraries where a graphical representation is maintained. Parametric components allow for rapid generation of symbols for generic items of varying sizes, e.g. doors, windows, computers, desks or file cabinets.

Built-in Flexibility
The package handles multiple stories and even multiple buildings. Overlays provide support for partitioning Facility data by floor, function (furniture, utilities, cubicles, structure), department, etc.

Assign Attributes
The package enables users to monitor existing inventories and compare these figures with requirements of any proposed layout. Attributes such as occupancy, department and function can be assigned to rooms. Rooms and other areas can also be highlighted by color fill or user defined crosshatched patterns. The package further calculates the area and perimeter of a room and reports on its contents.

Use Legacy Data
Both automatic and interactive tools are provided to enable users to convert existing MICRO CADAM facility drawings, as well as drawings imported from other CAD systems, into the Facility Manager intelligent graphical database.

Report Generation
Reports including inventory on doors, windows, and furniture can be created in user definable formats. These can be output to a printer or to a file for further spreadsheet analysis.
